Natalie Spears & David Brown are rooted in a shared love of old songs and a strong sense of place. With hand-made instruments, close harmonies, and deep reverence for traditional music, they approach roots songs with thoughtfulness and quiet joy, allowing time-worn material to open into new shapes. Blending Natalie’s evocative voice, songwriting, and clawhammer banjo with David’s rhythmic sensibility and wide-ranging instrumental fluency, their music is grounded yet exploratory. Drawing on David’s long lineage of Appalachian musicianship and years shaping the sound of the band Rising Appalachia, alongside Natalie’s work as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and solo recording artist, their sound is shaped by care, listening, and restraint, feeling both timeless and alive.
